Each week, students will explore a new “grown-up” job through music and storytelling, using their voices, bodies, and imaginations to bring it all to life on stage. We’ll sing songs, act out scenes, and discover that you can be anything you want to be—with a little creativity and a lot of heart. With the rise of digital auditions, knowing how to create a great self-tape is a must—and we’ll teach them how to do just that! From slating with personality to framing the perfect shot, young actors will practice audition techniques, build performance skills, and grow their confidence in front of the camera. This dance class will incorporate movement based improv to encourage choreography techniques in addition to centre barre and across-the-floor exercises. This beginner-friendly class focuses on posture, strength, coordination, and musicality—the essential building blocks of all dance styles. From wielding paintbrushes to building flats, this class offers a hands-on experience in theatrical design and backstage craftsmanship. Students will learn how to safely use tools, bring creative visions to life, and work as a team to transform ideas into real, functional stage pieces. During weekends when shows are happening in the space, participants will be part of bringing those shows to life behind the scenes! Perfect for future designers, builders, or anyone curious about how much work—and fun—it takes to make a show shine from the wings. In this advanced musical theatre workshop, students in grades 8–12 will dive into the viral sensation Epic—the musical that took the internet by storm—and use its songs as the launching point for a one-of-a-kind showcase performance. Together, the ensemble will adapt select songs from Epic into their very own performance inspired by the musical. Along the way, they'll learn what it takes to build a show from the ground up: writing scenes, developing characters, designing costumes, considering transitions, and performing with heart.
