James Nicholson

Scenic Design

James has loved the theater most of his life, having a personality that plunged him into the spotlight from an early age, often when it wasn’t intended!

​

As an actor he has performed in numerous productions including Elephant’s Graveyard, The Man Who Came to Dinner, The Devil and Daniel Webster, A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream to list a few.

​

As a director a few of his productions that were brought to the stage were Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Leading Ladies and Royal Spares (the first two scenes at Fort Worth Fringe Festival).

​

As a set designer he has designed and created for The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Leading Ladies, Clue, Alice in Wonderland, and Hay Fever, to list a few. His set for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? won awards for set concept and design at TexFest.

He sat on the Board of Governors for Texas Nonprofit Theatres. 

​

Professionally he was a Fashion Designer for over 35 years in Dallas, New York, and lastly in Little Rock working corporately for Dillard's. His first retirement was becoming a florist with his husband when they purchased shops in covington, Louisiana and then in Henderson, Texas. Now fully retired, and busier than ever, he is enjoying theatre in Acadiana.
